OpenAI, one of the leading names in the artificial intelligence world, continues to grow rapidly with its enterprise products. The company’s paid solutions, ChatGPT Enterprise, Team, and Edu, have reached 1 million paying users in a short period. This significant milestone follows the 600,000 users announced in April, showing rapid growth. The first of OpenAI‘s business-focused subscription products, ChatGPT Enterprise, had already reached 150,000 users across 260 organizations as of January.
OpenAI launched ChatGPT Enterprise on August 28 last year, followed by the introduction of ChatGPT Team in January and ChatGPT Edu in May this year. ChatGPT Enterprise offers companies the latest models, extended context windows, data analysis, and customization options, providing ease of use on a large scale. Meanwhile, ChatGPT Team is designed specifically for smaller teams or small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). ChatGPT Edu, aimed at the education sector, offers similar benefits to teachers and students, drawing significant attention. Reaching 1 million paying users within a year highlights OpenAI’s remarkable success.
On the other hand, the free version of ChatGPT continues to maintain its popularity. As of August 2024, the free version has reached 200 million users, widely preferred by a large user base.
This new user data was announced just one day after OpenAI’s competitor, Anthropic, launched Claude Enterprise, a solution that provides greater control and security for businesses. The competition between OpenAI and Anthropic suggests that innovation in the AI space will continue at full speed.
