Meta has announced that it will start testing its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots with a limited user group in the US. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently stated, “We are launching the early test of our AI studio in the US. Over the next few weeks, you’ll be able to see AI based on your favorite content creators and interests on Instagram. These chatbots will appear in messaging for now and will be clearly labeled as AI.”
Zuckerberg mentioned that these AI chatbots are still in the early stages and are in their first beta versions. He assured that they will continue to develop the chatbots and will soon make them available to more users.
Purpose Behind Meta’s AI Chatbots
Discussing the reason behind this decision, Zuckerberg highlighted that the goal is to enable every content creator and small business on the platform to create their own AI to interact more effectively with their communities and customers.
Initial Collaborations and Testing Phase
Zuckerberg also revealed that to launch the first version of these chatbots, they have collaborated with popular meme account Wasted and tech creator Don Allen Stevens III:
“As we venture into this, we don’t presume to know what the most engaging, fun, and trust-building formula will be. That’s why we want to provide tools and create opportunities for people to experiment.”
The testing, set to begin next week in the US, will initially be limited to around 50 content creators and a small percentage of users. The AI feature is planned to be rolled out to more users over the next few months, with a general release expected by August.
