SpaceX’s Starship program is set for a major test flight, featuring key upgrades and it is first satellite deployment. The launch will deploy 10 Starlink “simulators” to showcase Starship’s capabilities.
SpaceX’s Starship Test Flight Plans and Upgrades!
SpaceX is significantly advancing it is Starship program, with the upcoming test flight aimed at demonstrating payload deployment for the first time. The payload will consist of 10 Starlink “simulators” designed to resemble the next-gen V3 satellites Starship will carry into space. These simulators will follow the same trajectory as the Starship’s upper stage, eventually splashing down in the Indian Ocean.
Next-Gen Satellites and Starship’s Role
The operational V3 satellites, heavier than the current V2 Mini models, will likely be the first real payloads launched by Starship. With it is massive payload capacity, Starship will deploy up to 60 V3 satellites per launch, adding 60 terabits per second of capacity to the Starlink network. These satellites will greatly enhance both downlink and uplink capabilities compared to the V2 Mini satellites. Additionally, the test launch will feature several upgrades to the rocket, including improvements in propulsion, avionics, and the heat shield. SpaceX will also attempt to catch the Super Heavy booster, a milestone achieved in October.
