YouTube has announced new features for its Premium subscribers. Among these features are Jump Ahead, which allows users to skip boring parts of videos, and AI-powered tools for asking questions about videos and summarizing comments.
Smoother Viewing Experience with Jump Ahead on YouTube Premium
YouTube has implemented the Jump Ahead feature, which it has been testing for some time. This feature allows users to quickly skip boring parts of a video. By double-tapping, users can jump to parts of the video that YouTube deems more interesting, based on a combination of AI and viewer data. Currently, this feature is active for Android users in the US and will be available to iOS users in the coming weeks.
Picture-in-Picture Feature for Watching Shorts
YouTube Premium subscribers can now watch Shorts videos in picture-in-picture (PiP) mode on their Android devices. This feature allows users to continue watching Shorts content while checking their emails, browsing social media, or using other apps.
Offline Viewing with Smart Downloads
YouTube has also introduced smart downloads for Shorts videos. This feature automatically saves Shorts videos to users’ devices, allowing them to watch the content offline later.
AI-Powered Tools: Ask Questions and Summarize Comments
Two new AI-powered features are also being introduced: asking questions about the video and summarizing comments. The company has been working on these features since November last year. Currently, these features are available to a limited number of users in the US and are active only for English videos with the “Ask” button.
